DESCRIPTION: Development of 17 new flats for social rent.
This development is located on the site of the old North Star Cinema and music venue in Lerwick and provides 17 new flats in the centre of the town for social rent.
Gilberts won a design competition for social housing on the site in 2008.
Providing a mix of one and two person units together with commercial space originally located at street level, the building aims to promote social interaction within its communal spaces, while offering stunning views of the nearby harbour. The design exceeds current sustainability standards and utilises the Lerwick District Heating System.
