DESCRIPTION: Five and six storey mixed use development with 88 flats and 2500sq.m of office space in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh, for J. Smart Group
The site is divided in two parts by a new access road, with a six storey residential element to the south, formed of three wings connected by town houses, underground car parking and landscaped courtyards. The development includes 22 affordable flats under the management of a housing association.
The commercial element to the north of the new road consists of four and five storeys of open plan office space linked by a central lift core. A terracotta rain screen system is used as external cladding, with the panels alternating with floor height glazing, to provide a hit-and-miss pattern to the building’s façade.
