George Gilbert
Director / Architect
George graduated with a first class honours degree in architecture from the Heriot-Watt University/Edinburgh College of Art in 1976. He also holds a qualification in landscape architecture and urban design.
He served with J & F Johnston Ltd for an almost continuous period of 16 years, 11 of them as a full equity director, during which the practice rose to a position of No.5 in Scotland.
During this period his workload was extremely varied and involved a balance of residential, retail, commercial and industrial projects mainly for national institutions and investment companies.
His professional awards include the Saltire Medal for the conservation of 11-13 North Bank Street: Edinburgh and the Concrete Society Award for the redevelopment of High Street/Castle Street: Inverness.
He is a founding director of Gilberts with a career objective to constantly improve the performance and reputation of the firm.
Hobbies include squash, golf and water colour painting.
